Premier's Reading Challenge Annual Report for 2016

The Premier's Reading Challenge continued to attract more participation and has contributed to increased reading engagement by students in South Australia, for twelve consecutive years.

The number of students from all three education sectors completing the Challenge in 2016 was 131,357, a total of 49.6% of all South Australian students.

The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results for students undertaking the Challenge attain higher reading scores and show greater reading growth than for students not completing the Challenge.

Over 1.58 million books were read by students to complete the Challenge in 2016, with well over 16 million books read in South Australia since 2004.
