The Challenge features annotated booklists which are reviewed by a panel of librarians and teachers, who ensure only quality literature is included. The purpose of the booklists in the Premier's Reading Challenge is for students to engage in reading, the Challenge lists are a great resource that can support teachers in literature selection for both shared text study and independent reading. These booklists can be useful in supporting teaching the Literature strand of the Australian Curriculum: English.
The seven general capabilities, a key dimension of the Australian Curriculum, are addressed explicitly in the content of the learning areas. To support teachers in approaching the general capabilities though literature, suggested relevant or related categories from the Challenge booklists are listed.
